Sport

Minsk District provides 344 sports facilities, including 19 football pitches, 49 gyms, 50 premises for doing sports, six mini pools, 14 shooting ranges and 178 other sports facilities for popularization of health and fitness activities in the rural area.

Minsk District is also home to five national Olympics centers: Olympic Sports Center Staiki, winter sports center Raubichi, a rowing center in the city of Zaslavl, an equestrian and horse-breeding center in the village of Ratomka, a yachting center at the Minskoye Sea. The centers boast modern multipurpose infrastructure and are open for hosting different sports, health and fitness events. 

Financial support, provided by the Department for Physical Education, Sports and Tourism, was used to upgrade gyms and install up-to-date sports equipment in the Cultural Center in Senitsa, Zaslavl.

A total of 229 specialists are engaged in the physical education and sports sector in the district. The share of those using sports facilities, making part of health-building groups and sports sections makes up 13% of the total population of Minsk District.

There are seven sports schools in the area. Of them five make part of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus. Two sports school operate under the Department for Physical Education, Sports and Tourism of the Minsk District Executive Committee.

A regional physical education and sports club Urozhai (Harvest) was opened in the district in 2007 as part of the state rural revival program. The club organizes recuperation and sporting events, first of all in agro-towns, and provides paid services to the population.
The main sports bases of the Department are two sports and recuperation centers in the city of Zaslavl and the agro-town of Senitsa. A total of 15 groups provide regular exercise sessions to about 1,000 people a month.

Every year Minsk District hosts over 100 sporting events. Among those enjoying the highest popularity are competitions Golden Puck, Leather Ball, winter and summer Spartakiads among labor collectives of the district, a regional Spartakiad for the Council of Deputies, a school Spartakiad, children’s Olympic Games, the regional football championship. Health and fitness events are among the priorities in the activity of the urban and rural councils of deputies.

Twelve travel agencies operate in the district. Twenty-four organizations provide paid physical education and sports services.

The district offers ten tour itineraries comprising the Belarusian Vernacular Architecture and Ethnic Heritage Museum in Strochitsy, the museum-reserve Zaslavl, Stalin’s Line, the former estate of Earl Chapsky, the yachting center at the Minskoye Sea, the rowing canal in the city of Zaslavl, Olympic sports centers Staiki, Raibichi, and many more. Rural tourism is a new area of the economic activity of the district.

There are up to 60 farmsteads in the area that are open to tourists seeking recuperation, recreation and a personal touch with nature and local cultural traditions.
