Health Care System

Minsk Central District Hospital provides healthcare services to Minsk District residents

The Minsk Central District Hospital was opened in 1972 on the premises of the former hospital for the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and a former children’s hospital. The new hospital operated therapeutics, neurology and pediatric department, the number of beds totaling 150. After repairs and renovations the capacity of the central district hospital reached 200 and then 235 beds (75 in the therapeutics department, 60 in the surgical, 55 in the neurology and 45 in the pediatric unit). A polyclinic of the Minsk Central District Hospital was opened in a new standard four-floored building in 1989.
Currently the Minsk Central District Hospital includes:

- 243-bed Minsk Central District Hospital (CDH) with a CDH polyclinic which has the capacity of 415 visits per shift;
- Branch No. 1 (Atolino Hospital) with a 240-bed inpatient clinic and a polyclinic with the capacity of 215 visits per shift;
- Branch No. 2 (Zaslavl Municipal Hospital) with a 70-bed inpatient clinic and a polyclinic with the capacity of 225 visits per shift;
- two district hospitals with the capacity of 100 beds and outpatient clinics for 70 visits per day;
- the 25-bed Kolodishchi nursing facility;
- 24 outpatient clinics for 1,420 visits per shift;
- 7 rural health clinics.

First aid is provided by an ambulance station situated in the village of Borovlyany (with a department in the village of Sennitsa and medical stations in the town of Zaslavl and the villages of Kolodishchi and Gatovo).

A network of pharmacies is available for the residents, too. Medicines can be bought from the central district pharmacy in Minsk, 20 pharmacies in villages and 25 points of retail sale that are located in outpatient clinics and rural health clinics.

The hospital provides healthcare services to 160,400 people.
Sergei Gromada has been in charge of the Minsk Central District Hospital since December 2008. The material status of the hospital raises clinical work to a high level. Work is underway to fill all vacant jobs with the required healthcare staff. Proper education and professional improvement of the working staff is a priority, too. Some additional paid services are available for patients. The major mission of the healthcare system of the district is to be compliant with healthcare standards laid down by the state. Work is underway to improve the affordability of medical care. The district is also seeking to improve the statistical data concerning the quality of public health service.
